As you prepare for your practicum, this module is designed to reinforce the essential elements of teaching American Mah Jongg accurately and confidently using National Mah Jongg League (NMJL) rules and standards.
While you have already learned key concepts throughout the course—such as managing adult learners, rules and standards, beginner strategy —this next step ensures that you, as an instructor, are consistently using proper NMJL terminology and demonstrating correct game mechanics in your teaching.
The resources included in this module—a comprehensive terminology sheet and a guided video tutorial—will help you:
Strengthen your use of correct instructional language
Reinforce foundational NMJL teaching concepts
Model proper table procedures and game mechanics
Build confidence in delivering a clear, structured lesson
These tools are an important part of your preparation, as your practicum will assess not only your understanding of the game, but your ability to teach it accurately and professionally in alignment with NMJL standards.
Our goal is to ensure that every accredited instructor is fully prepared to deliver a consistent, high-quality learning experience that reflects both the integrity of the game and the standards of this program.
Please review all materials carefully before scheduling or submitting your practicum.
Take the final exam to test your knowledge. Upon completion you will receive a lesson kit, bonus assets, your certificate of completion and your digital badge.
